Location: Berkeley – Type: Part Time – 8 hours/week – October-June
Edah is a Jewish learning afterschool program in Berkeley for children in grades k-5. Edah offers afterschool programming five days a week as well as day and week-long camps during school breaks. In Edah children engage in authentic and meaningful, Hebrew rich, Jewish learning experiences designed to respond to their individual interests and needs.
The Edah Misada is a space for learners to enjoy a warm cooked meal and practice their Hebrew language skills. Children step up to the misada counter and order from a posted menu. There is a short script each child uses to practice ordering, naming foods, and making blessings. And while at the counter the meltzarit/meltzar engages the kids by supporting them as they learn to order from the misada and engage in simple banter – all in Hebrew.
This part time position is perfect or someone with their afternoons free, who enjoys Hebrew and working with children. The training is short and simple, no cooking or cleaning is required, and it is a lot of fun.
